August 26 at 6:42 AM · If there’s no proven medical reason why you cannot vaccinate your child and you choose not to, I believe you should be be charged with neglect. Do you agree? 85%Yes 15%No 1.6K Votes Comments Nat Le Brun My reasons for voting yes: Mum wasn’t vaccinated against rubella because it wasn’t done for her generation. Caught it whilst pregnant with me. I have hearing loss as a result. Immuno-compromised friend’s daughter caught mumps from an unvaccinated child had to be resuscitated 3 times in hospital and now has permanent brain damage she didn’t have before. She was 8 at the time. Now 10 and has just relearnt how to feed herself. Emma Dalmayne Thank you Nat Le Brun Jennifer Starkman That said, I also think it’s incredibly important to note that “choose” is a crucial word here. In the United States in particular (I’m not sure about the statistics in Canada or the UK, though I suspect they’re better because of universal healthcare), it has been shown that many undeprivileged children go unvaccinated not by the parents’ CHOICE but because of the shitty circumstances of poverty, where clinics are hard for poor parents to access (assuming that there are free vaccination clinics available, which there are not always), because it requires having money for transportation–sometimes to out-of-the-way places–and time off of work to take their children to the clinic, and there are other ridiculous obstacles to proper healthcare. It is truly shameful. I’ve read extensively in case studies about the statistical differences between the “deliberately unvaccinated” (who are mostly white and wealthy and otherwise privileged ignoramuses) and the UNDERVACCINATED (i.e. people who WOULD vaccinated their kids but cannot or do not because of obstacles not of their making, who are mostly poor, underprivileged, and non-white), and it is heartbreaking and infuriating, and the latter definitely do NOT deserve to be punished or threatened . . . they deserve BETTER ACCESS to vaccination clinics and healthcare!! Nat Le Brun Exactly why choose was put in the poll I’m guessing. In those instances the government should be responsible for improving access to healthcare Emma Dalmayne Yes thats why choose was used. Vanessa Blevins Vaccines are covered by Medicaid and offered at every well child visit at every pediatrician’s office. It’s not a separate clinic to go to. They’re also mandatory for school, so in order to not be vaccinated and attend school, the parent would have to go out of their way to obtain a waiver. Emma Dalmayne You see them discussing how to get waivers, which priests will give them and how much. Jennifer Starkman Vanessa Blevins, I understand that they’re covered by Medicaid, but there are many, many children who never even get to a pediatrician’s office for minor illnesses, much less for routine “well visits”–children who don’t even HAVE a pediatrician–because their single parents cannot afford to take time off of the three jobs they’re working to make ends meet. And while technically you are right about mandatory school vaccinations, if you think that inner-city school administrations are worrying about these things or that they never get missed or overlooked when they’re holding classes in cafeterias, and trying to deal with kids coming to school with weapons and graduating with record levels of illiteracy, you are very much mistaken. Yes, waivers are an issue in SOME segments of the population. But those aren’t the schools I’m talking about. In extremely impoverished neighbourhoods, school administrations have a lot more to worry about than paperwork, and I can pretty much guarantee that they’re not going to keep a kid out of school who wants to show up, because their parent couldn’t get them vaccinated. They are desperate to keep kids IN school. Melissa Eaton Most childhood vaccines are technically free at least in my state, but the charge comes from the provider’s charge for administering. My son had a one month issue where he was in between health coverage plans and had no insurance for 30 days. It was a time when a shot was due and his doctor told me there was no charge for the actual vaccine and he would wave his fee so that he could remain on schedule during that time. Health departments provide them for free as an alternative also. My experience is that if financials are a problem there are ways make sure they still stay on schedule. MeLanie Larragoitiy In the USA at any free clinic or WIC clinic there are regularly held vaccine events where parents can bring their children for free inoculations. In every community they are available. Kathy McFarland Should yes but besides that all what actually gives us the right to decide to play with our children’s health. Vaccinate your children and stop putting them at risk and other children Dougy Hankinson There is a huge difference between “cannot vaccinate” & “unable to…”, finances for one! Also you say “if there’s NO proven medical reason…”, is that assuming to the vaccine research or families medical history (diagnosed & undiagnosed medical conditions), as many undiagnosed conditions can have an adverse effect on what would be deemed a “normal vaccine reaction” to 95% of the population! Charging a parent with neglect is a tad extreme, as many times I’ve asked why my child needs this extra vaccine without being given a feasible medical professionals reasoning! No, simple as! Alex Cockell Was assuming NHS or similar.. Dougy Hankinson Someone commented about the differences with U.K./Canada medical care & USA! Some are free at point of contact, some you need medical insurance! Then there are other countries where medical care is virtually non existent! Sad state of affairs for this day & age! Katie Myers Which vaccines are unnecessary? Every one on the childhood vaccine schedule is necessary. Shayna Gier Katie Myers Also, different countries have different lists Shayna Gier chicken pox is a modern necessity. without the vaccine, it wouldn’t be necessary because kids GENERALLY got it at the right age to not be a problem. Thanks ot the vaccine, the chance of getting it at the right time is low. so, yes, now it is necessary. I don’t think that’s a good thin gthough Dougy Hankinson Katie Myers these were ones outwith the normal NHS child vaccine range! They were newly added & it ended up being easier to force vaccinate children rather than the cause of the strain coming into U.K. via immigration, be it legal or illegal! About 5+ yrs ago! Shayna Gier the word “proven” bugs me… it means that the child ALREADY had a bad reaction. Emma Dalmayne Not necessarily, see Amanda’s comment. Mark Robinson Means the child may have some other medical reason why they can’t be vaccinated, not just they’ve previously had a bad reaction. Shayna Gier Emma Dalmayne but there are people who have bad reactions who don’t have “proven reasons” not to. And, for my case, my son cannot be vaccinated for chicken pox because my husband’s immunity is unknown AND he’s not potty-trained. Once potty-trained, we can vaccinate him Emma Dalmayne Shayna Gier and you will choose to. So that’s your answer. Michael Shoemaker Seeing as reactions are very rare it’s more prudent to assume that every child will not have a reaction until they do. It’s like anything else you give children. It’s prudent to assume that they don’t have a peanut allergy until you have evidence they do otherwise they’re missing out on a delicacy that would bring joy to their hearts but in all seriousness let’s use milk as an example. You don’t assume they’re allergic to breast milk until you have proof that they are. Kerry Yates I vote yes because due to medical negligence when I was younger I gained ME plus lots of other medical problems and it makes my immune system weaker and my lots immune systems are not good and Cody has asthma so b4 anyone visits i ask if they are poorly to stay away x x Amanda Seigler There are immunosuppressive disorders. And people with transplants Jordan Bartlett I have mixed feelings about this. For the most part I think yes, because if you don’t seek medical attention for a child that’s considered neglect and not getting vaccines for your kid is basically the same thing. You’re treating them for a disease they don’t have yet, but could get without the vaccine. On the other hand I think that if there’s a vaccine that’s new and the side effects/long term effects aren’t known yet then it should be okay to hold off. I know my mom didn’t get me a vaccine because the side effects were said to be really bad. It wasn’t something that was contagious though, so I don’t think it’s too big a deal?? Natalie Page Yes totally agree x William Vanderpuije Âû Agreed Phyllis Lucky Seeing as this group seems very pro vax I am not sure why you’ve decided to ask this here? Emma Dalmayne This is my timeline Phyllis Lucky. Phyllis Lucky Emma Dalmayne oh I am so sorry Emma I am not very good with fb it just came up on my thing presumes it was on a group x Emma Dalmayne Phyllis Lucky its ok xxx Kelly Brittin I think its very jard to get children into nurserys now without them as thay now want to see proff of them. Phyllis Lucky I think it depends where you try! Lots of my friends kids are unvaccinated and not one has ever had a problem with nursery (about half of those I know are home ed) the only problem they’ve had is threatening letters from nhs saying if you don’t vaccinate we can’t guarantee medical care which is not legal at any rate. Jessica Anderson I wanted to make such choice for my child so I must accept it for others too even if they make what I consider the wrong choice. I speak as someone who is immune compromised. Susan Randles There is a mother at my daughter’s old school who sent her three boys in when they had mumps. As they arrived by transport and she never answered her phone, school were stuck with them. A school were there are pupils where a simple cold can mean life or death. Emma Dalmayne That’s terrible. Dave Pandohie Not very nice Joanna Takla To not vaccinate is misguided but it’s difficult for authorities to prove neglect unless it’s done literally because of total neglect in caring rather than a choice and other aspects of care of the child are fine. It is neglectful per se and to others but it is a long way from being considered that by professionals be it GP, health visitors (who do nag parents re vaccinations) or social workers. You don’t get your child removed from your care by a court just for not vaccinating. Emma Dalmayne 521 votes in 3 hours! Waiting for the anti vaxxers to land…. Joanna Takla That’s a lot, that will provoke them.. Emma Dalmayne It will. Betsy Smith And you enjoy provoking people for your own sick pleasure? You are a pathetic excuse for a human being. Emma Dalmayne Thank you 🙂 Joanna Takla Just to add to above, I spent large part of childhood Pre teens in the middle east 1970s and 80s and it was unthinkable not to vaccinate – diseases like typhoid were still rife. I didn’t enjoy getting the shots and think was yearly for some of them. Not having them would have been deadly. Western countries think they are advanced and clean enough not to.worry…its because of the vaccination programmes that it is safer. If people fall out well it will be back to the bad old days! Dallas Brogden Yup. Emma Dalmayne It’s called privellage. They say that better sanitation and sewage got rid of polio and smallpox…. Joanna Takla That’s it and you have to be thankful for that but some countries are decades behind in that regard and thats why world health measures focus on improved sanitation but also free vaccine programmes. Thomas Âû Wall Yes but it should also be a bigger charge because you’re putting others at risk as well as your own children Emma Dalmayne Please do vote on this while your here to #BoycottHandley https://www.change.org/…/chelsea-green-publishing… Manage CHANGE.ORG Sign the Petition Heather Beattie See I am a bit divided on this, because if you make it manditory then obviously its ‘big government’ and ‘big pharma’ in cahoots and the conspiracy gets even bigger. Families may go more underground, even having their babies hidden with never getting medical care. Then god forbid the kid gets ill, they probably won’t even get them medical care. I think parents have to be given the responsibility to make sensible choices. Should parents of unvaccinated children be made to take a science course, yes, but to call it abuse or neglect not vaccinating in a country where many kids remain in abusive homes due to lack of appropriate services I don’t think you can charge anti vaxx parents who in other ways may be good parents, they have just been brainwashed by the bullshit they read online Labhraín Moriarty I second that. Especially here in the US. While not vaccinating is incredibly irresponsible, our child welfare system is shit. The kid may get vaccinated, but also end up in an actual abusive home where far more damage is done. Sheri Whaley Hadn’t thought of it that way, Heather. Heather Beattie However if their kid develops a disease such as measles which is then spread to a kid with autoimmunity or is too young to vaccinate then and goes on to die they should be made responsible for it with jail time minimum. Perhaps moral responsibility has to go that way? Bob Johnson We live in a complex society – so that things can “work” we accept that certain things must be done, like not murder people, drive on the left hand side, pay taxes, etc… If people can’t respect and follow these rules, they are imprisoned. Proper hygiene and being safely vaccinated are such rules – if people want to live in our society, be vaccinated or imprisoned. Melissa Clode My son couldn’t be vaccinated for 9 mths and even now they don’t take too well, vaccine preventable diseases and what they can do to him scare me. He has already had one vaccine preventable illness – which was a long hospital stay Why would someone with a perfectly healthy child choose not to? Emma Dalmayne The Twitter one. But you’re the one getting injected with roach control, pesticides, monkey cells, and embalming agent. Should I call you E.T., for short? Heather Beattie (not shown: photo of ET in comment) Iris Figueroa It’s tragic that we have in our midst so many illiterates and gullible young Americans. Let’s not mention their lack of basic manners. It’s a friggin’ horror show. Michael Shoemaker Well Iris Figueroa, there’s one thing you got wrong. You’d likely be charged and tried for murder. Because you would likely kill the person you injected all that stuff into. Part of that is because most of those things don’t actually make it into the final product, but are listed as they are used in the process of manufacturing the vaccine, and while they’re removed via various methods they can’t garentee some of the chemical or cell isn’t in the shot you get in trace amounts that might cause an allergic reaction. Another reason is that you haven’t done years upon years of research to formulate a product that won’t kill someone and finally you haven’t done years of research to find a benefit to the formulation you haven’t developed yet to prove that it’s effective at preventing a disease. And last but not least you haven’t been trained on the proper way to administer a vaccine, so even if by some miracle you managed to get a correct and safe formulation there’s a good chance of you administering it wrong. Clear? Good talk. Try not to speak out your ass next time. Iris Figueroa Michael Shoemaker – Yet another dingbat in the mix. Every component has a purpose, for that injection to perform its function, neophyte. Vaccine Adjuvant. An enhancer, a helper, to artificially elicit and heighten a systemic immune response. BINDS antigens and additional components, to travel, settle in organs. Does not excrete from body. Because it’s injected, BYPASSING our GI tract – our innate filtering system. The most commonly used, nano aluminum in vaccines. All components are fragmented, for quicker absorption. Remaining. Cumulative. High dose Al adjuvant injection into the muscle causes a granuloma, which traps the Al adjuvant and prevents it from traveling into the brain. Low dose does not form a granuloma. Hence, the low dose is free to travel to the brain. To remain and accumulate with every jab. Consequently, the lower dose is more toxic than the higher dose. Did I say nano aluminum? Did I mention injecting diseases gives you diseases? They’re the experts. So. Infant mortality rates REGRESSED against number of vaccine doses routinely given. The 34 nations were organized into data pairs consisting of total number of vaccine doses specified for their infants and IMRs. Prior to contemporary vaccination programs, ‘Crib death’ was so infrequent that it was not mentioned in infant mortality statistics. In the United States, national immunization campaigns were initiated in the 1960s when several new vaccines were introduced and actively recommended. For the first time in history, most US infants were required to receive several doses of DPT, polio, measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines. Shortly thereafter, in 1969, medical certifiers presented a new medical term—sudden infant death syndrome. The more vaccinations, the higher the rate of SIDS – rather, VIDS, vaccine-induced murder. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3170075/ Manage Infant mortality rates regressed against number of vaccine doses routinely given: Is there a biochemical or synergistic toxicity? Manage Iris Figueroa “50% of the population in most developed countries has allergies—some of them life threatening. A major reason is because everyone injected with an ALUMINUM-ADJUVANTED vaccine is suffering from aluminum poisoning. The type of aluminum used is designed to stay in the body to cause a prolonged immune reaction to the vaccine antigen. A side-effect is that the body is on alert to sensitize to (“become allergic to”) foreign proteins.” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5214894/ Hmmm… Manage Contact allergy to aluminium induced by commonly used pediatric vaccines NCBI.NLM.NIH.GOV Jason Edwyrd Cole Iris, you’re amazing. Thank you for showing some truth to these brainwashed troglodytes. Michael Shoemaker Iris Figueroa first of all, vaccine papers? Really? Really? Second it is excreted from out body because our gut is not our filter system. That’s our liver and kidneys. Our GI system can prevent some things from getting into our blood stream, but aluminum is not one of them. It geta through in higher amounts than a vaccine. So you’re ignorant about basic physiology to start. Do you no what nanoparticles of aluminum are and how they’re made? I doubt it. Also aluminum doesn’t normally bioaccumulate. Our body has built in filtration methods that will even capture nanoparticles. LMAO you said a lower dose is more toxic than a higher dose? Really? Please show this in peer reviewed literature because I have some toxicologist friends who would be shocked to hear this. That’s just the first comment. Iris Figueroa Anybody today has a few thoughts to ponder and investigate. 1) Biological beings evolved from a biological environment being polluted with toxins. What can possibly go wrong, right? 2) In this amazing era of information access at our fingerprints, to remain ignorant is a choice. A very embarrassing one. 3) When you support the very industries that are exploiting you for their profits, you are, in fact, celebrating your volunteering for your own extermination. That is all. Michael Shoemaker Post the whole thing. Not out of context for your second comment. Here I’ll do it for you. A more practical approach is to look at health conditions themselves and at the factors that cause them. Scientists are already working to identify risk factors that can lead to conditions like cancer, stroke, heart disease, and autoimmune diseases such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. Thousands of studies have already been done looking at hundreds of potential risk factors. If immunizations were identified as a risk factor in any of these studies, we would know about it. So far, they have not. We learn about a vaccine’s safety during clinical trials before it is licensed, and monitor it continually as millions of doses are administered after it is licensed. We also know there is not a plausible biologic reason to believe vaccines would cause any serious long-term effects. Based on more than 50 years of experience with vaccines, we can say that the likelihood that a vaccine will cause unanticipated long-term problems is extremely low Michael Shoemaker Pay wall to your next comment so in skipping. Likely that is also taken out of context. Iris Figueroa Michael Shoemaker – Bullshit and you know it. How about providing some unbiased (that means not pharma controlled) science that proves that vaccines, as in the entire schedule, have been evaluated for carcinogenic or mutagenic potential, or potential to impair fertility. Go on. Anything pharma biased is a conflict of interest – an ethical violation. You don’t want that… Michael Shoemaker Iris Figueroa your next point is almost entirely false. There’s only one type of vaccine that’s even close to what you’re describing and those are weakened live viruses. I’m not an expert on the process but essentially imagine if we gave all the viruses asthma and heart disease. They’re not going to fair well against our body’s Marines and green Barrett’s. The other types use antigens from chopped up virus particles. Not live virus.so once again you show your ignorance. Iris Figueroa Michael Shoemaker – Get the study I request, and settle it there.
