Congratulations! As a passionate parent advocate here in the Bay Area of California, I want to thank you for your interest in helping pass autism legislation.
We are determined that 2011 will be the year to bring meaningful autism insurance reform to state of California.
As the loved one of a child with autism spectrum disorder you no doubt realize that insurance companies here in California routinely deny reimbursement for medically necessary and prescribed treatments and therapies for autism.California is a massive state. We have a lot of work to do to accomplish this for the largest state in the country and we need more help.
We are writing to ask you to commit to this issue in 2011 and recruit a minimum of five people you know that would be willing to assist you in that effort through our Autism Votes program. We make participation easy!
Here is How YOU Can Help:
1) GET ACTIVE! Again, legislators who were flooded with telephone calls, emails, and faxes from YOU joined us. We need you to commit to two things – sign up at least five people this fall to help and get all of them to participate this spring!
We just need people who live in California!Need help finding five people to help?
a) Ask your neighbor or family friend who has a connection with your child.
b) Ask your child’s teachers.
c) Ask your child’s therapist or physician.
d) Ask your coworkers.
e) Ask family members – grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers or sisters.
2) GET MOBILE-IZED! Ask those same five people to take out their cell phone and text “AVotes” to 30644 This is our new mobile alert system to help us move more quickly or allow people to participate during their work day or if they don’t have computers!Twenty-three states have now passed this important autism insurance initiative but we are really hoping that the California can get it done this year. Thanks so much for your participation!
