2002
The Autism Genome Project begins when researchers from around the world decided to come together and share their samples, data, and expertise to facilitate the identification of autism susceptibility genes.
Autism Cabal meets and networks: Human Genome Project Celebration Dinner

2003
Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI) founded by Jim & Marilyn Simons who are “affected by autism.”
2004
Autism Genome Project Launched (AGP) launched by National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR)
This will later become known as Autism Speaks’ MSSNG & Spectrum10K???
2006
IAN was established in 2006 at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, and was funded by Autism Speaks and the Simons Foundation.
IAN is an online (research registry) database that connects family members of autistic people with researchers in an effort to help solve the many problems associated with autism
Today there are over 30,000 individuals registered on IAN.
On April 2, 2007 the Interactive Autism Network was founded by Drs. Paul and Kiely Law at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland.
The IAN project is supported by grant money from a non-profit organization called Autism Speaks. (Via wiki.)

Autism linked to genetic glitches
